Waiting For The Beat is a collaborative interpretation of our resiliency to continue to come together and be as one, amidst the pandemic, through the means of online and digital resources. The music and spaces we shared amongst each other, have now been transformed into platforms where we are only able to interact through a screen and chat boxes. Although uncertain of the future, the longing to keep our spirits connected gives us that hope that we will always find our way back to each other, through this music.

The Original Mix drives the intention of the record’s story home. Floyd Vader laying the foundation of the groove and feeling of the song, combining hard hitting percussion with smooth & soulful rides of the melody. On top of the composition, is a powerful vocal, written and performed by Emily ‘Evar After’ Alvarez, who brings such power to the story of this record, by the way her lyrics and vocal performance carry you through the richness of how we all relate to these feelings. The ‘Deep Like Dub’ is Floyd Vader’s way of taking the power of the Original Mix and taking you deeper into the emotion of this record. Giving you a reevaluated interpretation into the sonics that allow us to not just listen, but feel. All wrapped up by a beautiful & deep journey of a remix by Coflo. Where he takes you into his world of grooves and sonics, yet still upholds the integrity of the original intention of the record. This one will absolutely light up any dance floor!

‘A mix of physical and digital textures and design elements that mesh together to create one seamless piece. Gravitating to the word ‘Waiting’ and emphasized the feeling and meaning of the word. Something that is not there yet. There are multiple objects and pieces, which represent a multitude of experiences, transitioning into each other that are disconnected and incomplete. The line flowing through the center is solid, breaks apart in the center and becomes fuzzy. Fragmented interactions but we still make sense of it all somehow. The small tint of color shows hope and the positivity that the song expresses. I specifically chose green because I wanted to incorporate a natural, organic element that I felt while listening to the instruments and composition of the song.’
